Hard Charging Schatz Wins JB Memorial at Beaver Dam Raceway

Scores his 17th World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series victory of the season

BEAVER DAM, Wis. – June 27, 2015 – Four different drivers led an intense Jim Boyd “JB” Memorial presented by Karavan Trailers at Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday night, but it was a familiar face who emerged at the end – Donny Schatz.

The reigning World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion battled through traffic from a 10th place starting position and around leader Daryn Pittman late in the race to score his 17th win of the season and the night’s KSE Racing Hard Charger Award.

“This race team, you don’t count them out,” Schatz said of his No. 15 Bad Boy Buggies team. “It doesn’t matter if we start 10th or 20th. They’ve got their game face on, they’re really motivated right now, they’re really on top of things. The more people mess with them, the more they work hard so that obviously showed tonight.”

Storybook Ending: Brad Sweet Earned Gutsy Win at Beaver Dam Raceway Last Year

Storybook Ending: Brad Sweet Earned Gutsy Win at Beaver Dam Raceway Last Year

BEAVER DAM, Wisc. — June 24, 2015 — Less than 24 hours before he won last year at Beaver Dam Raceway in Wisconsin, World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series driver Brad Sweet was involved in one of the most scary accidents in series history, during an event in Iowa. The wreck tore his car in half and left him with a broken ankle. Sitting in the hospital still at 6 a.m. on race morning, he was not sure if he would even be able to race at Beaver Dam.

After getting released from the hospital later that morning, he made the trip north to Wisconsin to compete at Beaver Dam. With the help of his crew, who quickly put together a new car for him, Sweet was back behind the wheel and by the end of the night was hoisting the trophy for picking up the win. Sweet, who drives the No. 49 for Kasey Kahne Racing, returns to Beaver Dam Raceway this weekend for the Sixth Annual Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial Presented by Karavan Trailers on Saturday, June 27.

Consistently Fast: Paul McMahan Seeks to Translate Quick Car into Wins

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa — June 24, 2015 — Paul McMahan has had a fast race car for most of the season with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, he just hasn’t had the best of luck. Last week he was leading a race when a lapped car got into him, ending his night. On other occasions, misfortune has popped up, thwarting several potential strong runs.

McMahan, who drives the No. 51 for CJB Motorsports, looks to turn his luck around this week, as the World of Outlaws hit the track three times, including a visit to 34 Raceway in Iowa. The World of Outlaws will be in action at 34 Raceway on Friday, June 26, with a full night of racing on tap, beginning with hot laps, followed by qualifying time trials, heat races, a dash, Last Chance Showdown and 30-lap main event that will pay $10,000 to the winner.

BEAVER DAM, Wisc. — June 21, 2015 — The Sixth Annual Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial Presented by Karavan Trailers will see the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series hit the track at Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday, June 27. Always one of the most anticipated stops on the schedule, three different drivers took turns leading the event last season at the high-banked, third-mile bullring.

In the end, it was Brad Sweet, standing in victory Lane. The Kasey Kahne Racing driver suffered a broken ankle less than a day earlier in a terrifying crash in Iowa and turned in what was one of the gutsiest drives in series history. The Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial has had four different winners in each of the last four years. Joey Saldana, who won the inaugural event in 2010, is the only two-time winner to date, while Sweet, Craig Dollansky and Kraig Kinser each have won the race once. To gear up for the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial Presented by Karavan Trailers at Beaver Dam Raceway, here are some interesting facts and figures.

After applying the World of Outlaws qualifying to heat race formula, Joey Saldana’s No. 11 qualifying position placed him on the pole of the second heat.
