World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Returns to Phoenix for First Time Since 2009

Series takes on Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz. for the NAPA Desert Shootout on March 6

CONCORD, N.C. – Jan. 28, 2016 – The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and NAPA Auto Parts are returning the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ to Phoenix for the first time since 2009 with the NAPA Desert Shootout at Arizona Speedway on Sunday, March 6.

The high-banked, third-mile dirt oval in Queen Creek, Ariz. is hosting the series for the first time ever. It is one of four tracks this season that are hosting a World of Outlaws event for the first time.

“Arizona Speedway is a great addition to the World of Outlaws schedule,” said World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Director Carlton Reimers. “We are excited to partner with NAPA Auto Parts to return the series to the Phoenix market after a six season absence. We look forward to a great event for fans and NAPA customers and associates alike.”

CONCORD, N.C. – Jan. 28, 2016 – DIRTVision.com, the online destination for race fans to watch and listen to World of Outlaws and DIRTcar events, kicks off 2016 with a new look and, for the first time ever in dirt track racing, a free on-demand video archive that will feature current and historic races.

DIRTVision On Demand, a free service available to all DIRTVision members, launches with more than 130 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series races, including DIRTVision and previously televised broadcast shows dating back to 2005 and select historic events covering the previous three decades. The ever-expanding free archive will add a majority of 2016 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series races within one week of the event as well as select World of Outlaws Late Model Series and Super DIRTcar Series races.

Final 2016 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Schedule Released

Schedule is set as teams gear up for DIRTcar Nationals

CONCORD, N.C. – Jan. 27, 2016 – The final dates for the 2016 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season have been set as the series gears up to kick off during DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in two weeks.

In all, the 2016 season will feature 91 races at 54 different tracks in 25 states and one Canadian province. Four tracks will be making inaugural appearances on the schedule while another 11 return after absences.

For the first time since 2005, the World of Outlaws heads to Colorado as it takes on El Paso County Raceway in Calhan, Colo. on Wednesday, Sept. 14. It is the first time the series has ever taken on the quarter-mile track, 35 miles east of Colorado Springs.

Stockton, CA – Jan. 21, 2016 – If you are a fan of Winged Sprint Car racing the place to be on Friday & Saturday March 18 & 19 is without a doubt the Stockton Dirt Track for the third annual FVP Western Spring Shootout.

Not only will the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series be on hand for the weekend, but Winged 360 Sprint Cars have also been added to the card each night. The Winged 360’s will run under no sanction, but will follow PMG 360 (Civil War/ Taco Bravo) rules. Each night will pay $3,000-to-win and if a driver ends up winning both nights there is an extra $2,000 double down bonus up for grabs.

The expansion to have both 410’s & 360’s during the weekend continues the trend of the Stockton Dirt Track attempting to form marquee events each season.

Donny Schatz Honored as EMPA Driver of the Year

Wins the award for the second year in a row and third time overall

CONCORD, N.C. – Jan. 11, 2016 – For the second year in a row, Donny Schatz was named the Al Holbert Memorial National Driver of the Year by the Eastern Motorsport Press Association.

The accolade, awarded annually by a vote of the members of EMPA, was presented on Saturday night during the association’s convention in King of Prussia, Pa.

Schatz, who is currently racing in Australia, was unable to attend the ceremony but a statement was read on his behalf.

World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Returns to Brown County Speedway in South Dakota for first time since 1985

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Jan. 5, 2016 -The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will return to Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, South Dakota for the first time since 1985 in 2016 on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 19.

In the series first and only race to-date at the high-banked third-mile bullring back in 1985, three-time series champion Sammy Swindell was victorious over fellow Hall of Famer, 20-time series titlist, Steve Kinser. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series competed at Brown County Speedway in 2008 as part of their “Wild West Tour.”

The 2015 campaign was a historic one for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series as North Dakota native Donny Schatz won his seventh championship. In the process, Schatz, who drives for Tony Stewart Racing, became just the second driver to win 30-plus A-Feature events in the season, winning 31 times, to join Kinser, who accomplished the feat three separate times in his legendary career.

New Tracks, New Big Events, Fierce Competition Expected in 2016 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Schedule

Series returns in 2016 with 93 events at 52 tracks in 24 states and one Canadian province 

INDIANAPOLIS – Dec. 10, 2015 – The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series announced its 2016 schedule today during the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show. The season which has 93 scheduled dates and takes the series to 52 different tracks in 24 states and one Canadian province features new facilities, new big events and promises some of the fiercest competition in the nearly 40 year history of the series.

The Outlaws kick off their 2016 season at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida, February 12 to 14, for DIRTcar Nationals. The annual tradition features three nights of racing at the world’s fastest half-mile dirt track. To the DIRTcar Nationals champion goes the coveted ‘Big Gator.’

That coveted prize is the first in a season that from February to late October includes some of the biggest events in sprint car racing – and in all of motorsports.

CBS Sports Network Broadcasts 2015 NAPA Super Dirt Week and Night One of the Bad Boy Buggies World Finals

The ‘Finale at the Fairgrounds’ NAPA Super DIRT Week kicks off coverage on December 13 

CONCORD, N.C. – Dec. 7, 2015 – CBS Sports Network kicks off three weeks of World of Outlaws and Super DIRTcar Series action on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. with NAPA Super DIRT Week’s Syracuse 200 from the New York State Fairgrounds.

Veteran play-by-play broadcaster Dave Rieff joins color analyst Shane Andrews, the voice of the Super DIRTcar Series, as well as reporters Tony Bokhoven and Bob Dillner for the ‘Finale at the Fairgrounds.’

The Bad Boy Buggies World Finals night one airs the following week on Sunday, December 20 at 5 p.m. The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, World of Outlaws Late Model Series and Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series take on the Dirt Track at Charlotte for one of the final events of the 2015 season.
