POINTS UPDATE: Macedo Tops Standings For Fourth Lead Change of Season

Carson Macedo
Latest points update after River Cities and Ogilvie

Keep up with the chase for the 2023 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series championship.

LATEST RACE(S): River Cities Speedway (June 2), Ogilvie Raceway (June 3)

CURRENT POINTS LEADER: For the second time this season, Carson Macedo has taken over the points lead. A fourth on Friday followed by his third win of the season on Saturday elevated him and the Jason Johnson Racing team to the top spot. Over the last seven races, Macedo has finished no worse than fourth.

MOVERS:

Brad Sweet (-1): The four-time and reigning champion held the points lead for roughly a month but slipped a spot over the weekend. “The Big Cat” finished third on Friday and rebounded to sixth at Ogilvie after an early race crash, but it wasn’t enough to keep Macedo behind him.

CLOSING THE GAP:

Logan Schuchart: With one of his best weekends of the season, Logan Schuchart closed in slightly on third place in points. A pair of top fives including a runner-up on Saturday helped Schuchart trim eight points off Gravel’s advantage.

Gio Scelzi: As his rookie World of Outlaws campaign moves on, Gio Scelzi continues to build momentum. The Fresno, CA native quietly had one of the strongest weekends of any full-time Series competitor, posting a fourth and a sixth. Scelzi went from 80 points behind Sheldon Haudenschild for sixth in points down to 66 markers behind him.
