POINTS UPDATE: Gravel’s Not Done

David Gravel races under Brad Sweet
Latest points update after Port Royal

Keep up with the chase for the 2023 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series championship.

LATEST RACE(S): Port Royal Speedway (October 6-7).

CURRENT POINTS LEADER: A solid weekend at Port Royal allowed Brad Sweet to maintain his point lead. A sixth place effort on Friday was the best run of his weekend as he and the Kasey Kahne Racing crew pursue a fifth straight title with seven races to go.

CLOSING THE GAP:

David Gravel (2nd): While Sweet has been stout, David Gravel won’t go away quietly. The Watertown, CT native finished ahead of Sweet both nights at “The Speed Palace” with results of second and fourth. Gravel has only missed the top five once in the last six races. The Big Game Motorsports pilot has trimmed Sweet’s lead to 68 markers.

Sheldon Haudenschild (7th): While Sheldon Haudenschild didn’t find himself in the top 10 over the weekend, he still managed to close in on sixth place in the points, going from 38 points behind to 28.

James McFadden (11th): A podium result on Friday highlighted James McFadden’s weekend in Pennsylvania and helped him close even more on a spot within the top 10 in points. The Roth Motorsports driver is now only two markers behind Robbie Price.

MOVERS:

Logan Schuchart (+1): After a tough weekend at Williams Grove, Logan Schuchart rebounded in a big way at Port Royal. The Hanover, PA native wheeled the Shark Racing #1S to a fourth on Friday and a third on Saturday. The two top fives moved him back into the top five in points and only four markers out of fourth.

Donny Schatz (-1): Misfortune struck Donny Schatz throughout the weekend in Pennsylvania leading to a pair of finishes outside the top 20. The two results dropped him down to sixth in the standings.
