Latest points update after Lakeside

Keep up with the chase for the 2023 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series championship.

LATEST RACE(S): Lakeside Speedway (October 14).

CURRENT POINTS LEADER: Brad Sweet continues to stay strong as he nears a fifth consecutive championship with Kasey Kahne Racing. Saturday’s Micro-Lite Harvest Rumble saw “The Big Cat” grab his 28th podium of 2023 with a third place run to maintain a solid advantage atop the standings.

CLOSING THE GAP:

David Gravel (2nd): On Saturday at Lakeside, David Gravel posted his fifth runner-up in the last nine races as he continues to claw towards Sweet. The second-place finish took two points out of the gap between the two. The points separation stands at 66 with five races remaining, meaning Gravel needs to beat Sweet by an average of 6.6 positions per night to catch up.

Donny Schatz (6th): A win at Lakeside maximized points for Donny Schatz over the weekend. The 10-time Series champion is still alive in the battle for a top five finish in the standings, and his win narrowed the gap between himself and Logan Schuchart from 62 points to 40 points.

MOVERS:

James McFadden (+1): A hard charging James McFadden rolled from 14th to seventh at Lakeside – an effort that helped him and the Roth Motorsports crew jump back into the top 10 in points. It’s a significant leap with 10th in points paying $17,500 more ($87,500) than 11th in points ($70,000).
