October brings another crown jewel event for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series with the Weis Markets National Open presented by Sage Fruit.
The two-day event, Friday-Saturday, Oct. 4-5, also pits the World of Outlaws and local Pennsylvania Posse in a duel for Saturday’s $75,000-to-win finale.
Pennsylvania’s own Brent Marks scored his second triumph in the event last year and became the fourth consecutive different winner since 2020. The PA Posse have claimed victory in the marquee event the last two years as Lance Dewease, of Fayetteville, PA, won it for the fifth time.
Ten-time World of Outlaws champion Donny Schatz has the most National Open titles of active drivers with six. His last came in 2020 which is also his last Series win at Williams Grove.
Carson Macedo still holds the title as the last World of Outlaws driver to win a National Open title. He scored his victory in 2021, which was his second Series win at the famed 1/2-mile track.
Current Series points leader David Gravel is the last driver to win a World of Outlaws race at Williams Grove after winning the Summer Nationals in July – his ninth World of Outlaws win at the dirt track.
Gravel was denied victory the night before by TJ Stutts, of Liverpool, PA, who scored his first World of Outlaws victory. He also has three wins at the track this year.
Freddie Rahmer, of Salfordville, PA, is the current points leader at Williams Grove with one victory, so far. He’ll be poised to join his father, Fred Rahmer, as a National Open champion. Fred scored his title in 2013.
