LATEST RACES: River Cities Speedway (Aug. 23), Red River Valley Speedway (Aug. 24)
CURRENT POINTS LEADER: Friday at River Cities provided an uneventful evening for David Gravel as he finished sixth, but Saturday was a different story. A flip in Qualifying put him behind early, but Gravel and the Big Game Motorsports crew rebounded to finish eighth and keep their point lead north of 100 markers over Donny Schatz.
MOVERS:
Sheldon Haudenschild (+1): Over the last couple weeks Sheldon Haudenschild has strung together an impressive stretch, and it paid off as he jumped to sixth in the standings over the weekend. A third and a second pushed his current top three streak to four. In six of the last seven points paying races, Haudenschild has taken the Stenhouse Jr.-Marshall Racing No. 17 to podium runs.
Logan Schuchart (-1): It wasn’t a bad weekend for Logan Schuchart with a pair of seventh-place finishes, but they weren’t quite enough to keep Haudenschild behind as he slipped to seventh. He’s been consistent as of late with seven straight top 10s in races that award points.
CLOSING THE GAP:
Carson Macedo (3rd): You can’t have a better weekend than Carson Macedo and Jason Johnson Racing had. The pairing swept both nights in North Dakota as Macedo bagged his first back-to-back wins in more than two years. He now sits only four points behind Schatz for the runner-up spot.
Michael Kofoid (5th): Like Macedo and Haudenschild, Michael “Buddy” Kofoid drove his way onto the podium both nights over the weekend as the trio occupied the top three each evening. The Roth Motorsports pilot’s second and third place outings were enough to help him close within 60 markers of Giovanni Scelzi for fourth.
