CURRENT POINTS LEADER: Friday got the weekend off to a rocky start for David Gravel when he got involved in a big crash, but he did manage to recover with a 10th-place finish after repairs were made. The next night he came home sixth, marking the first time in 2024 the Big Game Motorsports No. 2 missed the top five two nights in a row. Despite the bad luck, Gravel managed to hold onto the points lead.
CLOSING THE GAP:
Carson Macedo (2nd): The consistency keeps on rolling for Carson Macedo and Jason Johnson Racing. Runs of fourth and second bumped his streak of top fives to 17. The average finish of the Albaugh No. 41 over that stretch is a remarkable 3.1. Macedo is now only 10 markers behind Gravel for the top spot.
Giovanni Scelzi (4th): River Cities resulted in Giovanni Scelzi driving the KCP Racing No. 18 to his second victory of 2024. “Hot Sauce” followed the victory with a fifth at Ogilvie. He cut slightly into the gap between himself and Donny Schatz for third as 14 points sit between the two.
Sheldon Haudenschild (7th): It was nearly a weekend sweep for Sheldon Haudenschild. He finished second on Friday before driving the Stenhouse Jr.-Marshall Racing machine to a wild win at Ogilvie. The Wooster, OH native has now won half of the last six races this season. Haudenschild is down to 40 points behind Logan Schuchart for sixth.
