Keep up with the chase for the 2024 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car championship.

LATEST RACE(S): Kennedale Speedway Park (March 23)

CURRENT POINTS LEADER: One week after the points lead changed hands, we’ve got a tie atop the World of Outlaws standings between David Gravel and Giovanni Scelzi. Gravel drove his way to a runner-up at Kennedale, his third podium of the season. That result was enough to equal Scelzi, who salvaged his night by charging from 20th to 10th.

CLOSING THE GAP:

Logan Schuchart (4th): A strong 14th to seventh drive continued the consistent start to 2024 for Logan Schuchart. The Shark Racing driver has finished worse than seventh only once through eight races. He’s now just 12 markers behind Donny Schatz for third and 28 back of Scelzi for the top spot.

Carson Macedo (5th): When you win the one race of the weekend, you maximize points, and that’s exactly what Carson Macedo did. The Lemoore, CA native is on a roll with finishes of third, second, eighth, and first. He and the Jason Johnson Racing team now trail Schuchart by 36 markers for fourth.

Michael Kofoid (7th): The quiet consistency continued for Michael “Buddy” Kofoid as he posted an eighth at Kennedale, his third top 10 in a row. The finish coupled with some mechanical troubles for Sheldon Haudenschild allowed Kofoid to pull within 10 points of sixth.

Bill Balog (8th): This rookie continues to impress. Bill Balog turned in another solid Qualifying effort, made the Toyota Racing Dash, and posted a season-best finish of fourth at Kennedale. It marked the “North Pole Nightmare’s” fourth straight top 10 and allowed him to close within six points of Kofoid for seventh.

MOVERS:

Bill Rose (+1): The first Heat Race of the night at Kennedale saw Bill Rose steal the show as he picked up his first Heat win since 2013 and found himself trending on X (formerly Twitter). He capped the night with a top 15 and jumped to 12th in the standings.
