JOHNNY’S FIVE: Ogilvie Raceway

Johnny Gibson's picks for Ogilvie

Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event? Series Announcer Johnny Gibson will bring you his five drivers to watch each week.

This week: World of Outlaws Big O Showdown at Ogilvie Raceway, Aug. 15

JOHNNY’S FIVE:

David Gravel
Why: Until proven otherwise, number one on this list every week. The defending champ is doing historical things. A sixth-place finish last year is Gravel’s best in the Series’ two visits to Ogilvie, but the Big Game Motorsports team will have an extra-bright spotlight shining on them this week (see number 2).

Donny Schatz
Why: Donny’s departure from Tony Stewart Curb-Agajanian racing pegged sprint car racing’s Richter Scale. Ten-Time’s debut with Big Game Motorsports as a teammate to David Gravel will be watched closely by all of Sprint Car Racing. Those expecting one of the sport’s legends to immediately return to winning form should keep in mind the “growing pains” associated with changing teams, chassis, and engines.

Kerry Madsen
Why: “The Mad Man” takes over the TSR entry, returning to a team where he had success driving as an occasional teammate to Donny Schatz. Kerry has been FAST in the Vermeer/Madsen 55V this year, including a couple of runner-up finishes in World of Outlaws action.

Carson Macedo
Why: A win and a second place finish in the two World of Outlaws Big O Showdowns are the proof that Macedo has quickly taken to the Minnesota oval.

Sheldon Haudenschild
Why: A thrilling victory last year secures Sheldon’s spot on the Ogilvie radar. The wins haven’t been a frequent for the Stenhouse Jr.-Marshall Motorsports team in 2025. Another Ogilvie triumph could set the tone for a strong push in the latter portion of the season.
