JOHNNY’S FIVE: Ironman 55

Johnny's picks for Ironman 55

Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event? Series Announcer Johnny Gibson will bring you his five drivers to watch each week.

This week: World of Outlaws Federated Auto Parts Ironman 55 at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park, Aug. 1-2

JOHNNY’S FIVE:

David Gravel
Why: Until proven otherwise, number one on this list every week. The defending champ is doing historical things. Gravel is a two-time winner at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park, with one of those wins coming last year.

Sheldon Haudenschild
Why: Pevely is a “Sheldon Track.” The site of one of his most impressive performances since joining the World of Outlaws, winning with a more than 10-second lead. Check out these numbers: four wins, 12 podiums, and 17 top fives in 25 career appearances here.

Carson Macedo
Why: One could make a case that Carson is working on making I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park a “Macedo Track.” A win (the third of his career) and a second-place finish here in April have vaulted Macedo into elite status here.

Logan Schuchart
Why: Like Macedo, the driver of the Shark Racing No. 1S had a win and a runner-up finish here in April (and Logan led 26 laps the night Carson won). The 2018 Ironman champion seems to shine in front of the Federated brass when the Outlaws race into Pevely.

Bill Balog
Why: The “North Pole Nightmare” has thee top-five finishes in his last five Pevely starts. Balog has proven he’s capable of running up front on any give night in his sophomore season with The Greatest Show On Dirt.

You can follow these drivers and more this week at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park by getting your tickets in advance or at the gate.

If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch all the action live – and listen to Johnny announce – on DIRTVision.
