The golden gates of California will open again for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series at the beginning of September with the start of the West Coast Swing.

First, the Series will return to the Stockton Dirt Track for the first time since 2019 with a $12,000 payday on the line on Friday, Sept. 6. Then, the World of Outlaws make the trip back to Kings Speedway for the $21,000-to-win Tom Tarlton Classic on Saturday, Sept. 7.

When the Series returns to Stockton, a brand-new track will await them. Originally a 3/8-mile, the dirt track has been downsized to a classic 1/4-mile California bullring.

Logan Schuchart has brought Pennsylvania dominance to the two California tracks, having swept the World of Outlaws’ last doubleheader at Stockton in 2019 and winning two of the Series’ last five visits to Kings – currently the only driver with multiple Series wins at the track in the last 10 years (2022 and 2017).

Along with Schuchart, 10-time Series champion Donny Schatz is the only other Series regular with a win in both cities. He has three wins at Stockton (when it was a 3/8-mile) and one at Kings Speedway.

The Tom Tarlton Classic will be a homecoming for Carson Macedo, of Lemoore, CA, as Kings Speedway is about 10 minutes from where he grew up and Macedo is the great nephew of Tom Tarlton. He won the event in 2021 and finished fifth in it last year.

The two events kick off a month-long tour through California for the World of Outlaws, which also brings stops at Bakersfield Speedway, Merced Speedway and Thunderbowl Raceway. With that, the best local talent from California will try to best the World of Outlaws each night, such as Dominic Scelzi, Tanner Holmes, Chase Johnson, Shane Golobic and more.

If you can’t make it to the tracks, you can watch both races live on DIRTVision.
