LATEST RACE(S): Highland Speedway (Aug. 14), Maquoketa Speedway (Aug. 16-17)
CURRENT POINTS LEADER: Brandon Sheppard expanded his World of Outlaws CASE Late Models points lead over Nick Hoffman in the standings and kept Bobby Pierce at bay with the same points gap entering the Illinois-Iowa swing with nine races left in the season. The New Berlin, IL driver finished fourth at Highland, then finished the Hawkeye 100 weekend with a podium finish in Saturday night’s Feature. He leads by 64 points over Hoffman, and 76 over Pierce.
MAKING MOVES:
Brian Shirley (+2): Sweeping the Feature races in the Illinois-Iowa swing was everything the Chatham, IL driver needed to display his improved comfort behind the wheel of his No. 3S Bob Cullen Racing Late Model late in the 2024 season. He took the lead halfway through the Beat The Heat 40 for his first triumph of the week, led all 40 laps of Friday night’s Feature at Maquoketa, then held off Sheppard and Mooresville, NC driver Nick Hoffman to win the Hawkeye 100 weekend. The sweep boosted Shirley up to seventh in the Series standings.
Cade Dillard (+1): The Robeline, LA driver is in the heart of a three-way points battle with Kyle Bronson and Ryan Gustin for the race to finish inside the top five in the Series standings. Dillard picked up two top-five finishes at Highland and Maquoketa before finishing the weekend with a top-10 result in the Saturday night finale. Those finishes helped “The Thriller” reclaim fourth in the standings with a combined six points separating him from Bronson and Gustin.
