CURRENT POINTS LEADER: With three World of Outlaws CASE Late Models victories and seven podiums through 10 races on the Heartland Grand Tour, New Berlin, IL native Brandon Sheppard leads the points standings at the halfway mark of the 2024 season. He enters the second half of the season with a 14-point lead over Nick Hoffman.
MAKING MOVES:
Nick Hoffman (-1): The Mooresville, NC driver traded the Series lead with Sheppard through the course of the Heartland Grand Tour as he picked up Feature triumphs at Brownstown Speedway and Norman County Raceway. However, a 12th-place finish at River Cities Speedway put Hoffman back to second in points. He was tied with Sheppard entering the final night of the NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50, but Sheppard’s runner-up finish helped keep him ahead.
Bobby Pierce (+4): The reigning Series champion is back to form after picking up three Feature victories at Independence Motor Speedway, Hamilton County Speedway, and his second consecutive Gopher 50 at Deer Creek Speedway. The driver out of Oakwood, IL found his way back to the top three in points for the first time since Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals in February.
Ryan Gustin (+2): The No.19R Cooney Motorsports Infinity Chassis machine turned up the dial through the Heartland Grand Tour with eight top-10 finishes in 10 races, including a breath-taking win by 0.009 seconds over Hoffman in the first Feature race at the Gopher 50. Gustin finished inside the top-10 in nine of the last 11 events to improve his 2024 Series standing up to seventh.
Brian Shirley (+2): The Chatham, IL driver turned a new leaf with a new No. 3S Bob Cullen Racing Late Model, eclipsing his Series results prior to June and July. Through the Heartland Grand Tour, “Squirrel” picked up five top-five finishes in the first seven races and his first Series Feature win of the year at River Cities. He moved back into the top-10 in points with the performance, currently ninth in points.
