JOHNNY’S TOP FIVE:
David Gravel
Why: Until proven otherwise, number one on this list every week. The defending champ is doing historical things with the Big Game Motorsports team. He sits atop the standings by 64 points over Carson Macedo with five wins, 14 top fives and 15 top 10s in 15 starts.
Kyle Larson
Why: Larson is the defending NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s champion. He’s also collected nine wins and 13 podiums in his last 16 starts at Knoxville Raceway, dating back to 2020.
Donny Schatz
Why: Schatz and the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team are getting things rolling with their Chevy engines, coming off a third-place finish last weekend. If there’s any track that can bring the 11-time Knoxville Nationals winner out of a funk, it’s Knoxville.
Aaron Reutzel
Why: Reutzel had eight wins at Knoxville LAST YEAR (between 410 and 360). He’s also in the midset of a national resurgence in 2025, including a runner-up finish with the World of Outlaws at Volusia Speedway Park.
Garet Williamson
Why: Williamson enters the weekend locked in dogfight with Chris Windom for the top spot in Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year standings. He’s 10th in Series points with three top-five finishes this year and sits two points behind Windom. Williamson earned an his career-best World of Outlaws finish (third) at Knoxville in 2023.
