One of the most compelling points battles in recent memory — Marlar, Brandon Sheppard and Chris Madden all entered the final day of competition with a shot at the crown — set the stage for a highly anticipated 2019 campaign that kicks off on Feb. 8 at Screven Motor Speedway before invading Volusia Speedway Park on Feb. 13 for the DIRTcar Nationals.

by Randy Chenowth

iRACING — July 16, 2018 — The Dirt Track at Charlotte delivered another exciting championship event. Leonhardi took home his first win of the season, while the rest of the pack scrapped for second and back.

The three heat races went off without a hitch. While there wasn’t an overwhelming amount of passing, the racing was still very aggressive between the pack. Heat 1 saw Zach Leonhardi, Alex Bergeron, John Fidler, and David Heileman advance. In Heat 2, Drew Herchko, Dylan Houser, Casey Kirwan, and Phil Diaz moved on. Heat 3 let Kevin Dedmon, Charles Cosper, Nick Cooper, and Adam Elby get the direct pass to the Feature.

Bergeron Scores at Limaland Motorsports Park

by Randy Chenowth

For the second round of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Championship Series, the greatest virtual late model drivers traveled to the tricky Limaland circuit. This 1/4-mile dirt track sees a lot of racing up high, but interesting opportunities to make moves present themselves in lower lanes when track conditions get right.

Initially the #35 of Nick Cooper looked like the car to beat after putting in fast time in qualifying and dominating his heat race, but the rest of the quartet of heat race winners of Bergeron, Fidler, and McKinney showed they were forces to be reckoned with before the Feature ever started.

Weaver takes Volusia in Season Opener

by Randy Chenowth

The opening round of the new iRacing World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Championship Series brought us to Volusia Speedway Park, one of the most unique tracks on the iRacing service. The short straights, sweeping corners, and specifically the curved back straight away challenges many competitors.

With that said, the season opener was expected to be a brilliant race, and it delivered.

The first four heat races featured hard but mostly clean driving, demonstrating that these guys were here for the big show. Drivers in transfer spots early raced smart. The back half of the field took more chances. Multiple grooves widened the track as the race went on, which gave us plenty of three-wide action.
