Sweet Works the Bottom of the Bowl for the Win

Fans & Superstars Honor the Legendary Lanny Edwards

MESQUITE, TX — April 15, 2017 — For the second night in a row, Brad Sweet worked his Kasey Kahne Racing 49 machine along the bottom of the high-banked half-mile oval at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, this time sticking it out for the win. With only five laps to go, Sweet stole the win from David Gravel, who led all previous laps but was having some trouble getting his CJB Motorsports No. 5 out of lap traffic. 

“Awesome race there with David [Gravel],” said Sweet. “Lap traffic was just crucial. My car seemed like it was a little bit better. We were just right on him. Once I got a little clean air I was able to start picking off those lap cars and it felt good.”

The Ragin’ Cajun Scores His First Devil’s Bowl Win

Second Win of the Season, Seventh Career Series Win

MESQUITE, TX — April 15, 2017 — Jason “the Ragin’ Cajun” Johnson dominated night one of the Texas Outlaw Nationals at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, leading all 25 laps of the evening’s Feature after winning the Craftsman Club Dash from the pole and running fastest in qualifying.

“It’s one of these nights you always imagine and you dream of,” said Johnson from Victory Lane. “We set quicktime, won a heat, won a dash, won a feature. That’s a first for me, so hats off to this crew: Jeff, Jacob, Phillip. They’re working their tails off, and it’s a lot of fun to drive right now,” he continued with a chuckle. “It feels great to be back in Victory Lane.”

Devil’s Bowl Speedway Texas Outlaw Nationals this weekend

CONCORD, NC — April 11, 2017 — A full weekend of events scheduled for when the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series returns to the place of establishment at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Friday and Saturday, April 14 and 15.

The racing world lost a true pioneer last September when Lanny Edwards, co-creator and promoter of the World of Outlaws passed away. On Saturday, during opening ceremonies the sport will pay tribute to Edwards when the family of Lanny Edwards will be presented the Ted Johnson Award — awarded for Outstanding Contribution to Sprint Car Racing. Also included in the special pre-race ceremonies will be a driver salute to Edwards, plus sharing of special memories of Edwards.

Outlaws Return to Site of Inaugural Event

CONCORD, N.C. – April 5, 2017 – Every time the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series visits Devil’s Bowl Speedway, there’s an imposing historical atmosphere surrounding the event. The Mesquite, TX track was the site of the first-ever World of Outlaws race in 1978.

The 2017 Texas Outlaw Nationals at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on April 14 & 15 features a purse of over $100,00 and marks the fourth consecutive year, and 26th year overall, the Outlaws have raced the track where Ted Johnson, with the help of the late Lanny Edwards, created what would become ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’.

Outlaws invade Gator Motorplex on April 13 for the Gator Outlaw Bash

WILIS, TX — March 30, 2017 — The World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series returns to Texas on Thursday, April 13 for the inaugural Gator Bash at Gator Motorplex in Willis, which was postponed by inclement weather on March 4. All tickets from the originally scheduled event will be honored on April 13. The Southern United Sprints will also be in action, making it a full night of all sprint car action.
