World of Outlaws Visit 34 Raceway on Friday, June 26
WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa — June 22, 2015 — Iowa has always had a great tradition when it comes to the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. One of the newer tracks on the schedule that has been continuing this tradition is 34 Raceway in West Burlington. The World of Outlaws made their debut at 34 Raceway in 2008 and have competed a total of four times at the track and will be in action at the three-eighths mile again on Friday, June 26.
Donny Schatz, the six-time and defending World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, won for the first time in his career at 34 Raceway last year. The North Dakota native started 10th and steadily worked his way forward, taking the top spot with just 10 laps remaining. Schatz currently leads the series standings and also has the most wins thus far in 2015.
Joey Saldana, who is currently fifth in points, is a past winner at the three-eighths-mile with the World of Outlaws, picking up a win in 2009. The second-generation driver recently picked up his first series win of 2015 in his home state of Indiana.
Also in action on Friday, June 26 will be Shane Stewart, who is second in points, driving for the Larson Marks team, which is co-owned by NASCAR driver Kyle Larson. Brad Sweet, who was involved in a very scary accident at 34 Raceway last season, returns in his No. 49 for Kasey Kahne Racing, along with his team, 2013 series champion, Daryn Pittman.
Sammy Swindell, the three-time World of Outlaws champion will compete at 34 Raceway as he continues to fill in for the injured Jason Johnson in the No. 41 machine. Swindell is the second-winningest driver in series history.
Other drivers that will be in action are: veteran Paul McMahan, Australian Kerry Madsen, fan favorite Jason Sides, young gun David Gravel, third-generation racer Kraig Kinser and sophomore racers Logan Schuchart and Jacob Allen from Pennsylvania.
