Shark Racing’s Schuchart Finishes Ninth Sunday In WoO Action at Lebanon Valley Speedway

Fans,
Fans,

WEST LEBANON, N.Y., July 21 — After disappointing outings at his home tracks of Lincoln Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Logan Schuchart got back into the top 10 Sunday night when he placed ninth in the 25-lap World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series feature at Lebanon Valley Speedway.

Driving the Shark Racing #1s sponsored in part by Your Auto Source NAPA Autocare Center, Pell’s Tire Service and Marty Thompson, the Hanover, Pa.-based grandson of National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Bobby Allen got by Justin Barger with an inside move working lap 21 on the half-mile dirt oval to secure ninth place in the A-main.

Schuchart started tenth in the 20-car field but dropped to 11th initially when Paul McMahan passed him working lap one. He moved into the top 10 with five laps down when the driver who had been second, Steve Kinser, slowed on the backstretch with ignition problems. He got one more spot before another lap was even in the books when the seventh-place driver, Cody Darrah, stopped with a flat right-rear tire while Kinser was still making repairs in the work area.

Schuchart didn’t have a good restart and quickly found himself back in 12th place. With 13 laps down there was a yellow for Jessica Zemken, who slowed on the frontstretch, and then a red for Kinser, who flipped on the frontstretch on the first attempt of that restart. Kinser was behind Schuchart at the time but Zemken was right in front of him, so he was 11th when the action resumed.

He took tenth with an inside move by Kraig Kinser working lap 15, and then got by Barger for his ninth top-10 finish of the year in WoO action.

Another Shark Racing entry, the Pell’s Tire Service #1a driven by Jacob Allen, also of Hanover, Pa., placed 14th in the A-main after starting 17th. His best battle occurred with John Smith, whom he passed on the very last lap.

David Gravel passed Kerry Madsen on lap six to win the feature over Madsen, Donny Schatz, Daryn Pittman and Brad Sweet.

Allen finished sixth in his heat. Schuchart did not start his heat due to mechanical difficulties. Earlier in the evening Schuchart recorded the seventh-fastest time in time trials, while Allen was 17th.

In addition to Your Auto Source NAPA Autocare Center, Pell’s Tire Service and Marty Thompson, the team is sponsored by Don Ott Racing Engines, Rich Fogle Custom Pole Buildings, Newman’s Towing & Recovery, CnB Mushroom Farms, Brenneman Painting, Speedway 94, Dirt: The Game, Silpada Jewelry, Lebo Skin Care, DMI, Penske Shocks, ButlerBuilt Seats, Tony Stewart Racing, SR Lubricant Solutions and Mycroleum.

Both Shark Racing drivers are rookies in the series. Schuchart is currently 13th and Allen is 14th in the national standings.

The next event is this Wednesday at Fulton Speedway in Fulton, N.Y., which hasn’t hosted a WoO sprint car race since 2010. Three races in Canada round out the busy month.

The entire schedule can be found on woosprint.com. Free audio coverage of all WoO races is available on Dirtvision.com.
