World of Outlaws Sand Hill Showdown
Race Recap
McCreadie Clears Troutman Late for Sand Hill Showdown Victory at Selinsgrove
For the first time in almost four months, Tim McCreadie is back in Victory Lane.
The 2006 champion of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision kicked off the season with a win at Volusia Speedway Park during DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals. Since then, the Briggs Transport Racing team has had several strong nights, but a second win never materialized.
The Watertown, NY native knew that this week’s northeast swing was a prime chance to kick his season into high gear. That’s exactly what happened last year, as he won his first two races of the year at Raceway 7 and Bedford Speedway in the same stretch.
Selinsgrove Speedway in particular has been a strong track for McCreadie, as he won a World of Outlaws race there in 2014 and finished in the top 10 in four of his five previous Series starts. Despite the most recent one coming in 2015, McCreadie picked up right where he left off more than a decade ago when he returned for the Sand Hill Showdown.
A Heat Race victory locked McCreadie into the Redraw, and he turned it into his first Bilstein Pole Award of the season. It was a battle between youth and experience on the front row with McCreadie and Drake Troutman, and although McCreadie led the opening circuits, he surrendered the top spot to Troutman 11 laps in.
After slotting into second, McCreadie never gave Troutman an inch of breathing room. He tried a variety of lines through the corners and briefly got side-by-side with Troutman on multiple occasions, but struggled to find a way by. But with eight laps remaining, McCreadie powered around the top of Turns 3 and 4 to get to Troutman’s outside exiting the corner with enough speed to clear him down the frontstretch.
From that point onward, it was all McCreadie en route to his 41st World of Outlaws win, breaking a tie with Chris Madden for seventh on the all-time list.
“It’s always fun to race back home, close to home,” McCreadie said. “All the people come, lot of Modified people, I know a lot of Sprint Car people too, it’s pretty cool. We don’t get to go to New York where maybe I’d get to have an advantage on these guys. I know I’ve been running these cars 20-plus years, but those tracks up there, I’m really good at. If I ever went up there, I think we’d make some hay. But that’s OK, we’ll take Pennsylvania as a close second.”
Troutman settled for second after leading 27 laps, bringing his total to 99 on the year without a win to show for it. Regional standout Mason Zeigler was third, scoring his best World of Outlaws finish since his runner-up at Path Valley Speedway Park in 2024. Daulton Wilson was the MD3 Rookie of the Race in fourth, while Nick Hoffman finished fifth to regain the points lead by six over Bobby Pierce, who finished 10th.
UP NEXT: The World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision heads to Marion Center Raceway for the Connor Bobik Memorial on Friday and Saturday, May 15-16. More event information can be found by clicking here.
