David Gravel
Gravel’s Knoxville Mastery
David Gravel has led all drivers in World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series victories on half-miles over the past two seasons, continuing to rack up wins at a remarkable pace with three already in 2026. He has also won at Knoxville Raceway for four consecutive years, including a victory earlier this season on April 25.
As the series rolls into Knoxville Nationals week, the 2019 Nationals champion is looking to capture his second title at The Sprint Car Capital of the World. Gravel has been especially strong at the historic Iowa oval this year, posting a win, a runner-up finish, and two fourth-place results in his four starts.
While he finished 3rd in the 2025 Nationals, fans won’t soon forget his legendary perfect 500-point night during the 2017 edition of the event, one of the most dominant preliminary performances in Nationals history.
In recent years, however, Gravel has had to overcome deep starting positions in Saturday night’s championship feature. He responded with a pair of remarkable charges in 2023 and 2025, climbing from 22nd to finish second in 2023 and from 21st to finish third in 2025. In 2024, he started 19th and finished 12th.
