JOHNNY’S FIVE: Knoxville Raceway (June)

Johnny Gibson's picks for Knoxville Raceway

Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event? Series Announcer Johnny Gibson will bring you his five drivers to watch each week.

This week: World of Outlaws Premier Chevy Dealers Clash at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA, June 13-14

JOHNNY’S FIVE:

DAVID GRAVEL
Why:
Until proven otherwise, number one on this list every week. The defending champ is doing historical things. Gravel is the 2019 NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals champion and a 12-time overall winner at Knoxville. He’s also been on the podium in five of his last 10 starts here.

RICO ABREU
Why: Abreu has already been to Victory Lane at Knoxville twice in 2025, including a World of Outlaws win in April. Abreu also has scored twice in World of Outlaws action this season, and enters the weekend tied with David Gravel for most wins this season with eight.

LOGAN SCHUCHART
Why: Something about Knoxville has always “clicked” for the driver of the Shark Racing No. 1S. A podium finish in April, three career victories at the “Sprint Car Capital of the World,” and top 10 finishes in 21 of his last 23 Knoxville starts make Schuchart a contender in what will be one of his final chances to get dialed in for August.

TYLER COURTNEY
Why: “Sunshine” picked up a win in weekly competition last week as the track where he’s a two-time winner without wings. Courtney also scored in last year’s 360 Knoxville Nationals with the American Sprint Car Series, and looks to take a step or two up the podium from a pair of World of Outlaws third-place finishes in 2025.

BUDDY KOFOID
Why: The 2024 Kevin Gobrecht Award winner enters the weekend as one of the most consistent (and fastest) drivers in the sport, coming off a $55,555 score at Eagle Raceway. This would be a fantastic opportunity for Kofoid to score his first Knoxville win against a scary-strong field.

You can follow these drivers and more tonight at Plymouth Dirt Track by getting your tickets in advance or at the gate.
