JOHNNY’S FIVE: Beaver Dam Raceway

Johnny Gibson's picks for Beaver Dam

Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event? Series Announcer Johnny Gibson will bring you his five drivers to watch each week.

This week: World of Outlaws Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI, June 7

JOHNNY’S FIVE:

David Gravel
Why: Until proven otherwise, number one on this list every week. The defending champ is doing historical things. His first DNF of the season at Plymouth, and his first finish outside the top 10 since September, will have Gravel looking for a big time rebound tonight at a track where his career-best finish is second.

Sheldon Haudenschild
Why: Sheldon is absolutely brilliant at Beaver Dam — five wins and seven top-five finishes in his last eight Beaver Dam starts! He has won at least one race at Beaver Dam each of the last four years.

Rico Abreu
Why: Abreu’s win last night at Plymouth tied him with David Gravel for the most wins (8) in 2025, and all of Rico’s have come in his last 15 races. Abreu looks to improve upon a career-best seventh-place finish at Beaver Dam.

Bill Balog
Why: More “home cooking” for the 10-time IRA champion. His first career World of Outlaws win at Beaver Dam in 2016 may have been considered an upset, but a win at Beaver Dam would still send what is sure to be a packed grandstand into a celebratory frenzy.

Kyle Larson
Why: IF he and the Silva Motorsports team decide to rebuild after last night’s violent crash, the generational talent has to be looked at as one of the favorites: It IS a race of combustion engine powered vehicles with tires and a steering wheel, after all…

You can follow these drivers and more tonight at Plymouth Dirt Track by getting your tickets in advance or at the gate.
