HAZARDOUS WINDY CONDITIONS CANCEL THUNDERBIRD SHOWDOWN

WoOSprintGraphic
The focus shifts to Saturday’s visit to 81 Speedway

With the Precision Weather Service model showing sustained dangerous winds above 20 mph and occasional gusts over 40 mph throughout Friday night, creating hazardous racing conditions at Thunderbird Speedway, World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and track officials have agreed to cancel the Thunderbird Showdown in the interest of safety.

This decision comes after consulting with the race teams, track personnel, and local weather services.

If you purchased a ticket in advance through the World of Outlaws for the event, you will receive a face-value credit to your MyDirtTickets.com account – good for two years – to be used toward any World of Outlaws event available at WorldofOutlaws.com/tix. If a credit to your account does not work for you, then you have until April 29 to request a refund.

If you purchased a pit pass at the racetrack, the wristband must be mailed to 7575 West Winds Blvd NW Ste D Concord, NC 28027 in an envelope postmarked by April 29 for a refund.

The World of Outlaws now turns its attention to a trip to 81 Speedway (Wichita, KS) on Saturday, March 30. For general admission tickets, CLICK HERE.

Giovanni Scelzi and David Gravel are currently tied atop the points. Donny Schatz is a close third, just 16 markers behind the top spot.

If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch all the action live on DIRTVision.
