Richards Crowned Champion for the Fourth Time

Billy Moyer Jr. named 2016 Rookie of the Year

CONCORD, N.C. – Nov. 1, 2016 – After Shane Clanton’s son, Gunnar, helped add the final sparkle to Josh Richards’ No. 1 Valvoline/ Seubert Calf Ranches Rocket car, Richards knew it was his time to shine – for the fourth time. Clanton, the defending series champion, passed the torch to Richards Sunday night at the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series Night of Champions Banquet.

“I was the little kid playing in the dirt,” said Richards in front of his peers. “You just dream that someday, at the end of the day, you’re the guy at the top winning the championship. I never thought this season would be possible. It just means so much to me, to be able to do what I love to do. This is our fourth time, and it’s [still] overwhelming. It wouldn’t have been possible without everyone who put their faith and support in me.”

Overton: From Supers to Crates

Overton Returns to Crates for OneDirt World Short Track Championship

Will use event to prepare for World Finals next week

CONCORD, N.C. – Oct. 20, 2016 – Brandon Overton did not take the usual steps a driver would to rise up through the ranks in dirt racing. Rather, the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series regular took an unorthodox step, first wheeling a Super Late Model before stepping down into the Crate Late Model class with less horsepower.

Overton, who recorded his first series win in a preliminary feature for Lernerville Speedway’s prestigious Firecracker 100, was overcome with emotion in Victory Lane. He said he wished his dad was at the race to experience it because he gave “every damn dime” for him to be up there on the stage.

Overton will return to the Crate class in the OneDirt World Short Track Championship, October 20-22. He is using the weekend’s races as track-time before the Bad Boy Off Road World of Outlaws World Finals next week.

Josh Richards on pace to break single-season wins record

CONCORD, N.C. – September 2, 2016 – The World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series schedule has seen a mix of emotions with each of its 26 stops, and the trials and tribulations have not only tested the series regulars, but also challengers seeking the beauty of running with the beast. Three-time series champion Josh Richards has been on a tear and carries that ferocity and momentum into the month of September.

Richards is entering Labor Day weekend having placed in the top five in 10 consecutive starts. In those 10 starts, the “Rocket Man” finished seven of them in victory lane. His victory at Potomac Speedway on Sunday, August 12 was extra-special though. With his fifteenth win of the season, Richards broke the all-time series wins record (73).
