The World of Outlaws Late Model Series is set to make history this week as it visits three new Hawkeye ovals: Southern Iowa Speedway, Adams County Speedway and Shelby County Speedway. One driver with plenty at stake during the Iowa swing is Marshalltown native Ryan Gustin. The Reaper enters the week as Iowa’s winningest driver in World of Outlaws Late Model Series history, with 16 career victories. Yet, despite his success nationally, Gustin is still searching for his first World of Outlaws win in his home state. Gustin has already gotten some valuable track time at two of this week’s venues. During July’s Late Model events, he finished 16th at Adams County Speedway before posting third and 10th-place finishes at Shelby County Speedway. Now, with the World of Outlaws returning to Iowa for five races at four tracks over nine days, Gustin will have three more opportunities to finally add an Iowa victory to his impressive Outlaws résumé. The swing continues Wednesday at Southern Iowa Speedway before moving west to Adams County Speedway on Friday and Shelby County Speedway on Saturday.
