Iowa is the place to be for dirt racing fans in August.
The first two weeks of the month belong to the Sprint Car world with the Xtream powered by Mediacom 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Mediacom leading into the NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s. Once those festivities wrap up, the fendered cars take it from there.
Four different “Hawkeye State” facilities are on the schedule for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision in late August, and three of them are hosting the Series for the first time in 2026.
Here’s a look at what’s ahead:
Maquoketa Speedway | Hawkeye 100 | Aug. 21-22: The Iowa swing starts with the annual visit to one of the state’s best bullrings.
The Hawkeye 100 is back on the World of Outlaws calendar for the third consecutive season in 2026, largely due to the reputation of fantastic racing that Maquoketa has developed. Last year produced a perfect example, as three different drivers led the Feature that ended with a drag race to the checkered flag between Bobby Pierce and Brian Shirley.
This year’s event begins with a Thursday practice night for the first time before competitive action starts on Friday with a $12,000-to-win program. It all builds to Saturday, when $25,000 will be up for grabs at the end of 60 laps.

Southern Iowa Speedway | Oskaloosa Corn Belt Showdown | Aug. 26: One of Iowa’s top Sprint Car tracks is hosting its biggest Late Model race to date in 2026.
Southern Iowa is widely known as the home of the Front Row Challenge during Knoxville Nationals week, but that won’t be the only major midweek race in Oskaloosa in August. The World of Outlaws will be swinging by for a Wednesday show at a track unknown to most of the Series roster.
Although Late Model races at Southern Iowa have been few and far between, the track has hosted its share of national-level Modified racing over the years. Iowa’s own Ryan Gustin won two of his 11 starts with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) in Oskaloosa.
Adams County Speedway | Southwest Iowa Shootout | Aug. 28: The summer schedule concludes with a weekend in the western end of the state.
The first stop is at Adams County, another new addition to the tour. The 1/2-mile is returning to the national Late Model scene in 2026 after more than a quarter-century away, with their last major touring series event being a Hav-A-Tampa race in 2000 won by Scott Bloomquist.
That all changed two weeks ago with the Half Mile Hustle, a race attended by a handful of World of Outlaws regulars looking for laps. Nick Hoffman was on his way to victory until he broke a piston and had to finish the race on seven cylinders, which opened the door for Bobby Pierce to get around him and take the win.
Shelby County Speedway | Harlan Late Model Showdown | Aug. 29: The Iowa tour wraps up at a track drivers and fans have had circled since the schedule was released.
Shelby County has been known to produce Race of the Year candidates nearly every time the gates are opened, and the track’s inaugural World of Outlaws race is expected to be no different. It’s already been a big year in Harlan, as Shelby County recently hosted its first crown jewel when it became the home of the Silver Dollar Nationals.
Ryan Gustin was part of a signature Shelby County sliderfest when he and Devin Moran swapped the lead almost every corner in the Thursday Feature. Bobby Pierce also got close to a win in the main event on Saturday, as he closely trailed eventual winner Ricky Thornton Jr. for most of the race before finishing third.
