After about six years of running Ford Performance’s FPS410 Sprint Car engine, Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing have decided to take a step back from running the engine in points-paying competition with Donny Schatz.
The team will return to using Chevrolet block 410 engines in Schatz’s No. 15 car for the remainder of the 2025 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car season, starting with the World of Outlaws Sooner State Showdown at Lawton Speedway on Friday, March 28.
“For more than nine years, TSR has worked collaboratively with Ford Performance and Shaver Specialty Racing Engines on the development of the FPS410 engine,” TSR said in a statement release today. “While that development will continue, TSR will take a step back from running Ford engines during points-paying races… We’re extremely proud of, and grateful to, the respective teams at Ford Performance and Shaver Engines for their support over the last decade.”
Schatz first ran the FPS410 with TSR in a handful of races in 2019, bringing the engine its first World of Outlaws win at Lakeside Speedway – in only its third race with the Series. He and the team having been running the Ford at every race since 2020, picking up 22 victories in that time frame, including a Knoxville Nationals victory in 2022 and a Kings Royal victory in 2023.
In the five full years of running the FPS410, Schatz never eclipsed five wins on the season. Prior to running the engine, the last time he ended a season with a single digit win count was in 2011 (eight wins). The 10-time Series champion also earned a best points finish of third (twice) while running the engine full time and also finished outside the top five in points for the first time in over 20 years in 2023.
Schatz and TSR will utilize a fleet of Shaver and Kistler engines for the remainder of the season.
He currently sits sixth in Series points, 200 points behind Series leader David Gravel with one top five and seven top 10 finishes in 12 starts.
