CONCORD, N.C. – July 9, 2011 – Jimmy Mars dominated the World of Outlaws Late Model Series Firecracker 100 on June 25 at Lernerville Speedway. That didn’t sit well with Scott Bloomquist, the driver Mars passed to take the lead and who wound up finishing second.
Following the victory, Bloomquist informed World of Outlaws officials he wanted to pursue extensive tests on the tires Mars used to win the $30,000 top prize for the second time in three years. Bloomquist wants to be certain there was no chemical treatment applied to the tires.
“The big thing is I never want to leave a race and not be 100 percent sure why I was beat,” said inaugural Firecracker 100 winner Bloomquist on the June 29 episode of 4Wide.TV.
Mars, who has no love lost for Bloomquist, took exception to having his winning tires sent off for the comprehensive post-race analysis.
“As much as he’s cheated on tires over the years he thinks the only way anybody can beat him is by cheating up tires,” Mars said on 4Wide.TV. “I don’t expect any more out of him than that. That’s just the way he is. He’s a sore loser and I guess that’s why I can’t stand him.”
