Top-Ten at Action-Packed Kokomo

Top-Ten at Action-Packed Kokomo

A midweek stop at Kokomo Speedway on Wednesday was up next for Craig Dollansky and the Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team.  In four previous appearances at the action-packed ¼-mile in Indiana ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ hasn’t finished outside the top-ten with a strong record that included a victory in 2006 and a runner-up performance in the most recent event last year.

With a stout field of 42 drivers signed into the pit area, the night got underway for the Aggressive Hydraulics #7 by stopping the clock 10th fastest in qualifying.  Starting outside pole for heat two, Dollansky quickly jumped into the lead and paced the field all 10-laps taking the victory to move into the dash.  An inversion draw of six for the dash just missed the MobileStar Maxim as Dollansky started seventh and finished 6th.

In the 40-lap A-Main the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products backed sprinter lined up outside row three.  Losing a cylinder just prior to the green flag waving, Dollansky fell back a few spots in the early going but raced up to seventh before a caution on lap 13.  As the feature resumed action raged all over the track as the Elk River, Minnesota native battled closely with Greg Wilson for sixth before a red flag on lap 19.

Battling the high-banked bullring down a few horsepower, Dollansky lost a few positions on the ensuing restart but again was able to work his way back into the top-ten by lap 23 and then around Kraig Kinser for ninth before another caution three circuits later.  Dropping one spot on the restart, the final fourteen laps would go green-to-checkered as Dollansky raced with Donny Schatz until the track began taking rubber in the final handful of laps as the Big Game Treestands #7 raced under the checkered flag in 10th.

World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series action resumes tomorrow, June 7th, at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa.
