IN THE HEAT OF SUMMER: CJB Motorsports Continues Strong Run in 2014

Fans,
Fans,

TELFORD, PA. – July 23, 2014 – Fresh off of his win at the annual Brad Doty Classic, Paul McMahan was feeling confident as the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series rolled through Pennsylvania for the second time in 2014.

“A win always helps your confidence,” said McMahan, a California native. “As does going to your home area. Our CJB shop is located right in the heart of Pennsylvania so it’s nice to be back closer for the families of the crew and our owners, Chad and Jenn. We typically excel at the racetracks close to home “

The #51 Bairs Tree Service/Nyce Crete & Landis Block & Concrete/All Star Performance sprinter kicked off their home stand against the ever-challenging Pennsylvania Posse at Lincoln Speedway near Abbottstown.

“We drew a late number in the pill draw at Lincoln,” commented McMahan, who set a new track record at the 3/8th’s mile oval earlier this season. “That put us behind from the get go but we battled all night long. We started 23rd and finished 11th. We almost had 10th but I was passed while trying to get around a lap car near the end.”

With a short drive from Abbottstown to Mechanicsburg, the CJB was well prepared to tackle the Williams Grove Speedway Summer Nationals.

“Our two nights at the Grove were pretty good,” explained McMahan, who leads all World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series drivers with 48 top-10 finishes in 2014. “The first night we were the hard charger in the feature (16th to 6th) and the second night we started 10th and finished 7th with an engine that was going sour. Between that and the three-hour rain delay, it was a very late night for us. My guys really churned out a gutsy performance to get the car washed, motor changed and back on the road.”

The fourth race in as many days was held at Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon Valley, New York.

“Lebanon Valley wasn’t too bad either,” said McMahan. “We weren’t great but we weren’t bad. We started 11th and finished 7th. Anytime you move forward in the feature, you have to consider it a success.”

Fulton (N.Y.) Speedway on Wednesday, July 22nd, completes the Empire State two-step for the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt.’ From New York, the Outlaws venture into Canada for events at Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, Quebec, Cornwall (Ont.) Motor Speedway and Ohsweken (Ont.) Speedway.

“We have some pretty cool tracks coming up on the schedule,” said McMahan. “Drummondville is surreal because you are in a foreign country where they speak French. They do some great things like a laser light show and pyro for driver intros. Fulton is a cool track and I have never raced at Cornwall before. We rained out there last year. Ohsweken is a great place because it is wide and fast. Glenn Styres and his staff are excellent people.”
