Chevrolet Performance Continues Partnership with Tony Stewart Racing

Fans,
Fans,

INDIANAPOLIS (April 2, 2015) – Early returns on the continued partnership between Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) and Chevrolet Performance have been extremely favorable with six-time and reigning World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series champion Donny Schatz leading the way in one of the most competitive divisions of major motorsports.

Chevrolet Performance, the one-stop shop for customers looking for components to get more out of their Chevrolet products, is continuing its long and successful relationship with TSR in 2015 serving as a co-primary sponsor on the TSR No. 15 Bad Boy Buggies/Chevrolet Performance J&J that Schatz continues to race at dirt tracks all across the United States from February to November. The results have been solid through the first 12 events, with Schatz earning a series-high three victories and holding the top spot in the championship standings.

Chevrolet and TSR have a rich history of grassroots success and a winning legacy that began with the 2007 United States Auto Club (USAC) National Sprint Car Series title earned by Levi Jones. TSR and Chevrolet won three more USAC Sprint Car Series championships with Jones in 2009, 2010 and 2011, as well as back-to-back titles with Bryan Clauson in 2012 and 2013. The duo also won four consecutive USAC Silver Crown championships with Jones in 2010 and 2011, and Bobby East in 2012 and 2013. Chevrolet has been part of Schatz’s four WoO championship runs in 2008, 2009, 2012 and 2014 as an associate sponsor and is looking to win its first WoO title in a primary role this season.

“Chevrolet’s partnership with Tony Stewart Racing has provided an opportunity to connect with short-track fans who love racing, performance vehicles and parts, including our circle track engines,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet’s U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “We are looking forward to an exciting season with TSR as Donny Schatz chases his seventh World of Outlaws championship.”

Schatz opened the 2015 WoO season displaying the same fury with which he closed his remarkable 2014 season. The Fargo, North Dakota driver earned a career-best 26 WoO A-Feature triumphs in 2014 and, in February, won the Outlaws’ second A-Feature of the season during the 2015 DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida. During the last two weeks of action, Schatz has raced to victory first at Stockton (Calif.) Dirt Track and last Saturday in the Mini Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California, pushing his win total since the start of the 2013 season to 52.

“Everyone associated with TSR is extremely proud to have dedicated partners like Chevrolet Performance involved with our team,” Schatz said. “I’m the lucky one who gets to go out and drive the car every night. Our goal is always winning and it’s exciting for all of us to put some wins on the board early in the season and seeing that big Chevrolet bowtie in victory lane. They’ve been building incredible machines forever, and we’re really looking forward to continuing the company’s winning tradition and hopefully seeing that big smile on Mr. Campbell’s face at the end of the year. We’ve got a great team. I can’t thank Tony Stewart enough for surrounding me with such great people and incredible partners.”

Schatz is in his 19th season of WoO competition and eighth driving for TSR. His 175 career WoO A-Feature victories rank him third in all-time wins. His success in the sport’s biggest event, the Knoxville (Iowa) Nationals, has been remarkable with eight wins in his last nine outings. Schatz is also a five-time winner of the National Open at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and a two-time winner of the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. He’ll be looking to add to those numbers later this season with Chevrolet Performance during a campaign that includes 88 nights of racing all across the United States and in three Canadian provinces.
