CANADIAN CLOSER: McMahan Wraps Up Five Race Series Strong

Fans,
Fans,

TELFORD, PA. – August 27, 2014 – Oh Canada.

For five races in 2014, Paul McMahan and the CJB Motorsports team has ventured north of the border with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series. In that that time, the team experienced a wide spectrum of results.

“Canada was good for us, ” said McMahan, who had an average finish of 8.2 in Canada in 2014. “We had our struggles in Ohsweken (Speedway) and the first night at Castrol (Raceway) but all in all, we were very consistent which is what you need to be when you are racing for a championship.”

The Oil City Cup at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alb. hosted the final two events of the Outlaws Canadian tour. The #51 Bairs Tree Service/Nyce Crete & Landis Block & Concrete/All Star Performance sprinter took to the track for the first time on Friday, August 22nd.

“We weren’t too good at all the first night,” commented the California native. “We just tried a few things that didn’t work and so we didn’t try them again. The car was pretty free throughout the night. It was a learning experience for us and allowed us to gear up for the next night.”

McMahan and company were back in action the following evening with a better result on their mind.

“Night two at Castrol was much better off the bat because we timed in third instead of ninth,” explained McMahan. “We made the dash which is very important and gained a spot. We started third in the feature and was up to second but Daryn (Pittman) got past us in lap traffic so we fell back to where we started. It’s another top-5, which is always welcome.”

South will be the dominant direction for the Pennsylvania based team as they travel down the pacific coast for eight events in the next two weeks.

“We look forward to racing the speedweek out west because this is our livelihood,” said McMahan. “The more we race, the more money we can make. There are some good tracks coming up like Skagit (Speedway) Greys Harbor (Raceway) and Williamette (Speedway.) I think we can come into those races strong and hopefully make up some ground in the points. Regardless though, I love this time of year and getting to be in the Northwest. It allows me to work on my fishing.”
