High-Profile USA Nationals Will Pay $3,000 to Start in 2019

32nd annual USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway set for August 1-3rd, 2019

NEW RICHMOND, WI — Aug. 3, 2018 — One of the most prolific dirt Late Model races in the country will be even bigger in 2019. The 32nd annual USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway (WI), set for Thursday-Saturday, August 1-3, already has one of the most impressive paydays in the country at $50,000 to win. Now the high-profile event just got even more prestigious in the form of $3,000 just to start during the 2019 edition of the race, bringing the total purse for the event to almost $300,000.

“We’re really excited to continue our partnership with the Cedar Lake Speedway staff and be a part of the USA Nationals. This event and the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series have a great history together, and this only makes everything about this event that much bigger,” stated Series Director Matt Curl. “$50,000 to win is a lot of money to begin with, but not everyone is going to win. So that $3,000 to start really makes everybody stand up and take notice. Bob Kaufman and the team at Cedar Lake Speedway have really stepped up to be one of the leaders in the industry, and an announcement like this proves it,” he added.

As for the ongoing 2018 USA Nationals, Saturday, August 4th is the headlining night . The last day of the race weekend will start with the Last Chance Showdowns, followed by the $50,000-to-win USA Nationals that will wrap up the Week in Wisconsin road trip. This event will also be the milestone 25th event at Cedar Lake in Series history.

In 2017, Don O’Neal pocketed $50,000 for his USA Nationals victory. Overall, three-time Series Champion Billy Moyer leads the way with seven career wins at the track, including five career USA Nationals titles, while four-time Series Champion Josh Richards has three career triumphs, with two of those wins in the USA Nationals. Jonathan Davenport has two checkered flags as he swept both the prelim night and the USA Nationals in 2015 and Brandon Sheppard also has two wins, both coming on prelim nights.

There are 10 other drivers who have at least one victory with O’Neal, Jimmy Owens, 2006 Series Champion Tim McCreadie, three-time Series Champion Darrell Lanigan, 2004 Series Champion Scott Bloomquist and Dale McDowell all getting their wins in the USA Nationals. Madden, Jimmy Mars, Donnie Moran and Rick Egersdorf have all scored victories at Cedar Lake as well.
