Track History

Volunteer Speedway, known as the "World's Fastest Dirt Track," is a high-banked 4/10-mile clay oval located off Interstate 81 in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. Built by Hugh and Louise Goan and opened in 1974, the track has hosted elite dirt racing for five decades, with lap speeds reaching 140 mph when NASCAR star Kasey Kahne set the track record in 2010. The speedway has crowned numerous champions across its history, with Vic Hill earning a record five Super Late Model titles, and has welcomed virtually every major dirt racing sanctioning body—from the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and Late Models to the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and United Sprint Car Series
