Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each World of Outlaws Late Model Series event? Series Announcer Ruben Mireles will bring you his five drivers to watch each week.
This week: Dairyland Showdown at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, WI, May 1-3
RUBEN’S FIVE:
Jake Timm
Why: It’s a homecoming for MD3 Rookie of the Year contender who grew up and cut his teeth at Mississippi Thunder Speedway. Timm has tons of experience around Mississippi Thunder Speedway and has beaten talented competition, winning with USMTS in 2022. He’s won four Dirt Kings Late Model Tour races and came close to winning the Dairyland Showdown Prelim Feature in 2023 until contact with a lapped car coming to the white flag. Taking on the biggest challenge of his career, running the Series in 2025, his home track will become the first track on the calendar that he has notes on. Timm went from 21st to 10th in last year’s Dairyland Showdown. Momentum on the horizon for Jake Timm this weekend!
Ryan Gustin
Why: The Cooney Motorsports team has two World of Outlaws victories in 2025 and comes into the weekend as the defending Dairyland Showdown winners. Gustin won this event last year, fresh into his Infinity Chassis adventure. With a year’s worth of notes, Gustin returns with a bigger and better notebook. Let’s not forget just like Timm, Gustin has tons of laps around Mississippi Thunder Speedway winning five USMTS Features. The weekend is going to consist of the “Every Lap Matters” format. Gustin has won six Heats this year, which is second most this season. Gustin has set himself up for success and will be a threat all weekend long.
Nick Hoffman
Why: At this point last year, Hoffman already had two World of Outlaws victories before picking up his third at Mississippi Thunder Speedway. Hoffman ties with Pierce for the most Top 10’s (nine) this season. Hoffman has been consistent coming into the weekend second in the point standings. Hoffman picked up the $25,000 victory during last year’s Friday portion of the Dairyland Showdown, making it his richest victory of his career. Hoffman has said this is his type of racetrack with the momentum, slick and slow conditions. While it’s been a winless start to the season so far, this could be the weekend Hoffman parks it in Victory Lane.
Dustin Sorensen
Why: A driver that grew up an hour west of Mississippi Thunder Speedway also has his eyes on the prize. With a little more familiar territory this weekend let’s not forget Sorensen finished sixth in last year’s 50-lap Dairyland Showdown. This year, the Feature will be a whopping 75 laps and Dustin has proved around home he’s strong in long distance races with the Outlaws. Coming close to a USA Nationals victory after rain cut the feature short at Cedar Lake last season. Dustin also ran good at the NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 and made his first Prairie Dirt Classic last year. Just like Timm and Gustin, Sorensen has found USMTS Victory Lane twice at Mississippi Thunder. That first World of Outlaws victory could be added to his resume this weekend!
Tim McCreadie
Why: McCreadie made the switch to Longhorn at the Illini 100 and has been on an upward trajectory as he transferred out of the Heat Race at Talladega to finish seventh in the Alabama Gang 100. McCreadie made his first Dairyland Showdown in 2021, finishing fifth. “T-Mac” and the Briggs Motorsports Team come into the weekend ninth in the point standings. Mississippi Thunder Speedway fits McCreadie’s driving style and with 75 laps to work with and two nights of racing before the big show, T-Mac and the team will be working to fine tune and get more comfortable in the new car. The New York native has found victory in Wisconsin twice as a USA Nationals champion and winning at Gondik Law Speedway. Mississippi Thunder Speedway has hosted the Outlaws 12 races, including preliminary Features and we’ve only seen one repeat winner (Sheppard). Anyone could win this weekend!
You can follow these drivers and more all weekend at Mississippi Thunder Speedway, May 1-3, by getting your tickets in advance or at the gate.
