Joey Saldana picked up a birthday gift for himself last month by winning on the opening night of the Mini Gold Cup in at Silver Dollar Speedway in California and he followed that up by scoring a victory at Lone Star Speedway in Texas for his car owner Kasey Kahne who celebrated his 29th birthday on Friday.

Jason Meyers felt like a win slipped away from him and his team last season at Paducah International Raceway as he had just taken the lead when a caution flag flew prior to the lap being completed, placing him back in the second spot, where he would eventually finish. He made up for the near miss in impressive fashion on Friday night, leading all 30 laps to pick up his first career win at the high-banked 3/8-mile in the Bluegrass State.

38th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals Champion: Stevie Smith, who is eighth on the World of Outlaws all-time win list with 66 career A-Feature triumphs, used a runner-up finish on Sunday night to wrap up the overall title in the 38th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH at Volusia Speedway Park.

Winning combination: Joey Saldana and his Kasey Kahne Racing team made a couple of key changes heading into the 2009 season. First, they switched chassis and will run a Maxim this season, and second they added Willie Kahne to the road crew again to serve as crew chief. The changes have paid big dividends already, as Saldana has four Top-Five finishes in five starts at Volusia Speedway Park during the 38th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH.
