Overton Returns to Crates for OneDirt World Short Track Championship

Will use event to prepare for World Finals next week

CONCORD, N.C. – Oct. 20, 2016 – Brandon Overton did not take the usual steps a driver would to rise up through the ranks in dirt racing. Rather, the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series regular took an unorthodox step, first wheeling a Super Late Model before stepping down into the Crate Late Model class with less horsepower.

Overton, who recorded his first series win in a preliminary feature for Lernerville Speedway’s prestigious Firecracker 100, was overcome with emotion in Victory Lane. He said he wished his dad was at the race to experience it because he gave “every damn dime” for him to be up there on the stage.

Overton will return to the Crate class in the OneDirt World Short Track Championship, October 20-22. He is using the weekend’s races as track-time before the Bad Boy Off Road World of Outlaws World Finals next week.

Seeing Stars: Shirley Recovering for World Finals

Goal to reclaim top-five points ranking

CONCORD, N.C. – Sept. 29, 2016 – It was a little dent on the top of Brian Shirley’s Bell helmet. But in that divet was a story that was equally horrific and relieving. Shirley, on the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series national tour for his first full year, experienced first-hand the assumed risks of racing.

Steve Casebolt both a full-time racer and family man

CONCORD, N.C. – Sept. 20, 2016 – Once upon a time, a regal red Chevy Corvette pulled into Hayley Reynolds’ real estate office parking lot, and unbeknownst to her at the time, she would eventually take the last name of her prince charming behind the wheel. Though, Steve Casebolt did not meddle in sports cars. Rather, he raced an 800-horsepower dirt late model. The two wed six years later, and began their storybook lives together not in that ‘Vette, but in a race hauler traveling the country.

Josh Richards on pace to break single-season wins record

CONCORD, N.C. – September 2, 2016 – The World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series schedule has seen a mix of emotions with each of its 26 stops, and the trials and tribulations have not only tested the series regulars, but also challengers seeking the beauty of running with the beast. Three-time series champion Josh Richards has been on a tear and carries that ferocity and momentum into the month of September.

Richards is entering Labor Day weekend having placed in the top five in 10 consecutive starts. In those 10 starts, the “Rocket Man” finished seven of them in victory lane. His victory at Potomac Speedway on Sunday, August 12 was extra-special though. With his fifteenth win of the season, Richards broke the all-time series wins record (73).
