World of Outlaws Returns to I-80 Speedway for NAPA Shootout on June 6

Fans,
Fans,

Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. – Joey Saldana has a lot of history in the state of Nebraska.

His parents are from ‘The Cornhusker State’ and his sisters were born in the Lincoln area, which is a short drive to see Saldana and the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series make an anticipated return to I-80 Speedway for the NAPA Shootout on Friday, June 6, for the first time in more than a decade.

“I love it,” Saldana said. “Back in the early 2000s the Outlaws used to run there a lot. I think it’s a perfect-sized track. It’s not too small and not too big. It always puts on a good show.”

The June 6 event marks the first World of Outlaws race on the wide track since 2003. Sandwiched between that date and the inaugural event in 1995 were 15 main events. Seven drivers recorded at least one win, led by Mark Kinser, who won the first four and five total.

Danny Lasoski – the most recent winner – scored three feature victories with 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser and three-time series champion Sammy Swindell each winning twice.

“The track is so wide and the grooves are so different it does put on a really good show,” Saldana said. “I wish more tracks were built like it. It’s really wide and I’m looking forward to it.”

It also doesn’t hurt that Saldana will be able to race in front of family and friends.

“It’s nice to go back,” he said. “I don’t get to go back there very often.”
