The Milton Hershey School (MHS) and World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series are bringing Pennsylvania race fans and MHS students a unique experience, again, with the third annual Hershey Sprint Car Experience on Thursday, May 8.

World of Outlaws and Pennsylvania Sprint Car drivers will have their cars on display at Hersheypark, and hold meet-and-greets throughout the day. There will also be race cars from other dirt divisions and vintage race cars on display, too.

The school was founded in 1909 and is a top-tier private school for qualifying students in pre-K through 12th grade, offering life-changing opportunities and experiences. This includes Thursday’s Sprint Car Experience that will begin with drivers joining students in class to partake in activities.

MHS students will be the first to experience the day at Hersheypark. Then, it’ll be open to the public from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Shaun Turner, Senior Director of Enrollment Management & Family Relations at MHS, elaborated on why everyone should take the time to visit the event.

Q: Why should someone go to the Hershey Sprint Car Experience?
Turner: Milton Hershey School, World of Outlaws, and Hersheypark are excited to welcome back professional dirt track drivers to this special and free community event. This is an exciting day that celebrates the history of racing in central Pennsylvania and brings together our community. It also helps our MHS students learn about the racing industry — through meeting and talking to professionals — with some even getting hands-on experience as honorary pit crew members.

Q: What can they expect from the Sprint Car Experience this year?
Turner: A fun event for the whole family! Attendees will get a chance to tour driver rigs, sit in racing cars and antique cars, meet Sprint Car drivers, get some great swag, and take memorable pictures.

Q: What details should people know about visiting the event?
Turner: The Hershey Sprint Car Experience is Thursday, May 8, from 5-7 p.m. at Hersheypark Stadium. Again, it is a free community event, so no tickets are needed.

Q: What do you hope visitors will take away from the experience?
Turner: Our hope is that this event will help our community understand more about the mission of Milton Hershey School — to educate children to lead fulfilling and productive lives. Through the generosity of our founders, Milton and Catherine Hershey, MHS provides students life-changing opportunities — with all costs covered. As we share the incredible MHS story, we also want to be good community partners and support World of Outlaws in growing the next generation of racing fans.

Q: Why did Milton Hershey School want to put on the Sprint Car Experience?
Turner: The Sprint Car Experience is an exceptional event for our students that gives them exposure to career opportunities in the racing industry and beyond. Career-Focused Education is a hallmark of MHS and events like the Sprint Car Experience are important to our curriculum and programming.

Q: What have been the benefits of Milton Hershey School’s partnership with the World of Outlaws?
Turner: MHS’s partnership with World of Outlaws has been immensely beneficial for our students. Connecting with the World of Outlaws allows our students to get hands-on experience and explore career opportunities — as well as try new things and discover new interests and passions.

Q: Along with the Sprint Car Experience, a few students will get to be honorary crew member with a Sprint Car team at Williams Grove. How valuable have those experiences been for the students?
Turner: It is very exciting for students to be at the track and be a part of the action. For students who are interested in automotive careers or exploring the world of motor sports, this kind of experience is invaluable. This is just one example of how MHS students are getting real-world experiences that align with their interests. Through our Career-Focused Education programs, MHS helps students realize the countless opportunities available to them after graduation.

The Hershey Sprint Car experience will be open to the public from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, at Hersheypark Stadium (100 Hersheypark Dr, Hershey, PA 17033) – free for all to attend.

Fans can then go see the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series race at the historic Williams Grove Speedway, Friday-Saturday, May 9-10. Visit the World of Outlaws site to purchase tickets in advance.

If you can’t make it to Williams Grove on Friday, NOS Energy Drink and the World of Outlaws are joining forces to power the World’s Largest Sprint Car Watch Party on Friday, May 9, from historic Williams Grove Speedway. Fans can watch with viewers around the world at watchworldofoutlaws.com or on the RACER Network platforms, DIRTVision, and World of Outlaws social media channels for FREE at 7 p.m. (ET) in what will be the largest number of viewers to watch a Sprint Car race.
