BILLINGS, MT — August 21, 2018 —The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series heads to Montana for the second consecutive year on Saturday, August 25 as NAPA Auto Parts and Visit Billings presents the Brawl at Big Sky Speedway. Daryn Pittman was victorious for the second time in his career at the track last season in the Outlaws return to Billings for the first time in nearly a decade. The 2018 season has been a very competitive one with 16 drivers having picked up wins thus far. The Brawl at Big Sky Speedway will mark the series only race of the season in the state of Montana. This edition of Up to Speed sets the stage for the Big Sky Brawl at Billings.
Big Sky Speedway is a semi-banked three-eights-mile.The track record of 12.236-seconds was established by Jason Sides on August 19, 2005.
Daryn Pittman won at Big Sky Speedway last year, taking the checkered flag over Shane Stewart and Donny Schatz. Stewart led the first eight laps, with Pittman taking the top spot on the ninth circuit and leading the rest of the way. Making the win even more special was the fact that his car owner Kasey Kahne was in attendance to watch his two-car team compete.
Pittman also won at the three-eighths-mile in 2005. Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion, leads all drivers with three victories at Big Sky Speedway, dating back to the inaugural event in 2004. Joey Saldana won at the track in 2008.
Oh so close
Big Sky Speedway is one of the few tracks on the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series schedule where Donny Schatz has not won. The nine-time and defending series champion has five top-10 finishes in six starts at the track, including a pair of runner-up finishes. Schatz was third at Big Sky Speedway last year. The North Dakota native is a past winner in Montana at Metrapark Speedway.
A good first impression
Brad Sweet and David Gravel both saw Big Sky Speedway for the first time last year and both turned in solid runs at the track. Sweet finished fourth, while Gravel was sixth. Gravel opened the night by turning the second-fastest lap in time trials, with Sweet one spot behind him in third on the timesheet.
Back in the day

Another new track

Gee, who hails from Leduc, Alberta, Canada, competes full-time with the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) and has raced in Montana quite a bit in his young career.
