Temperatures pushing triple digits are becoming the norm whenever the World of Outlaws head to Dodge City. After picking up the win during last year’s Boot Hill Showdown Opener when temps were in the 100’s, the Big Game Treestands #7 team returned to Dodge City Raceway Park in western Kansas on Friday with temps again sizzling for the first of two nights.
With 31 drivers signed in for competition, Craig Dollansky posted the 8th fastest lap around the 3/8-mile aboard the MobileStar Maxim. Earning a front row starting spot for heat #2, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ started outside the front row and maintained 2nd to transfer into the dash. After the four pill inversion was drawn for the dash, the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products #7 started seventh and finished 9th.
In the 30-lap A-Main the Aggressive Hydraulics backed sprinter started inside row five and moved up a row when three separate cautions on the opening lap halted the main event getting underway. When the feature went green on the next attempt, Dollansky dropped one spot before the yellow flag was again displayed on lap 13. As racing continued the Elk River, Minnesota native lost a couple of positions but maintained 10th in the remaining laps to record his 20th top-ten of the 2012 season.
The Big Game Treestands #7 team heads back to Dodge City Raceway Park tonight for the finale of the Boot Hill Showdown.
