SPEED PALACE: McMahan Fast in Outlaws Return to Port Royal

Fans,
Fans,

TELFORD, PA. – October 29, 2014 – Few events on the 2014 World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series schedule generated more excitement and buzz than the tours return to Port Royal (PA) Speedway. After taking a decade off, the sweeping half-mile oval did not disappoint.

“Port Royal was a lot of fun,” said Paul McMahan, driver of the Bairs Tree Service/Nyce Crete & Landis Block & Concrete/All Star Performance sponsored machine. “It was good to be back there with the Outlaws and to see the excitement that the fans had.”

From the tight confines of Fremont (OH) Speedway to expansiveness of Port Royal, McMahan and the CJB team were looking for a victory as Pennsylvana is particulalrly special to the team.

“We always want to do well in front of our owners, Chad and Jenn,” said McMahan. “They live in Pennsylvania and we’re always looking to win when they come out to races. We didn’t get a good qualifying lap laid down but we did win our heat race which put us into the dash for the first time in five races. We started the feature in fifth and tried some new things, which dropped us back to tenth. We were good in the beginning but just tailed off as the race wore on. It was a great learning weekend for us, honestly. We have some time to digest the notes before we head out to Charlotte.”

McMahan and the CJB team will take the Halloween weekend off before returning to action at the Dirt Track at Charlotte for the World of Outlaws World Finals, November 6th thru the 8th. McMahan is no stranger to success as he has recorded wins at the 4/10th’s of the mile in three of the past four seasons.

“I’m not sure why I do so well at Charlotte,” said McMahan. “Ever since I started going there with Barry and the CJB team, in 2012, we’ve always had a good package there. In our first outing, we raced from 22nd to 2nd and nearly got the win. We can’t really go up or down in points so we are going after the wins. We have two more nights in 2014 to hopefully learn a few things and get some wins. This team has fought hard all year long and they deserve to be on the winners stage to close out the year. Hopefully we can do that.”
