Sides Slowed by Early Brake Problem at Lawrenceburg for Second Straight Year

Fans,
Fans,

Inside Line Promotions – LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. (Oct. 19, 2015) – Jason Sides got off to a rough start last Friday at Lawrenceburg Speedway during the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event.

“Two years in a row we’ve had brake issues there,” he said. “Last year we were qualifying and the left front brake fell off. This year right as I pushed off (for hot laps) I heard metal hitting metal. I thought a shock broke or was accidentally left loose. I made a lap and a half and had no brakes. It broke the mounts off the rear end housing. We barely got the rear end changed for qualifying.”

Sides qualified 26th quickest after missing his position. He then placed sixth in both a heat race and the Last Chance Showdown, which forced him to use a provisional to start at the back of the main event.

“We weren’t real bad,” he said. “Everything was based on qualifying and we had to start further back than we wanted in every race. In the feature I got to 15th about 15 laps in. We were getting around the bottom pretty good. I ran in too hard one lap and my right front hit Greg Wilson’s left rear. That bent the right front radius rod. It was a real weird feeling to drive.”

Sides maintained his position for several laps while he battled with the ill-handling car before it spun out. The team replaced the bent part during the caution and Sides returned to the track at the back of the field.

“I got back up to 14th and the last two or three laps the track started rubbering up out in the middle,” he said. “We were running the bottom and I noticed everybody started moving up. Two or three went by so I moved up and I got in line.”

Sides ended with a 17th-place result.

He is slated to compete with the World of Outlaws this Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., and Sunday at Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y.
