Sides Scores Fourth Top 10 of Season at Eldora Speedway with World of Outlaws

Inside Line Promotions – MARNE, Mich. (Sept. 28, 2015) – Jason Sides picked up his fourth top-10 finish of the season at Eldora Speedway to highlight last weekend with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.

Sides registered a seventh-place finish at the half-mile oval near Rossburg, Ohio, on Friday to kick off a two-race weekend with the Outlaws.

“We had a good run at Eldora,” he said. “We qualified ninth quickest, which started us on the outside of the front row for a heat race. The start was critical there. The polesitter got a better jump. I ran with him for a lap or two and then he pulled away. Shane Stewart and I got to racing after that and I finished third.”

That locked Sides into the main event, which he started on the inside of the seventh row.

“The track got really slick,” he said. “We made some changes and it was the right way. The bottom got cleaned off and you could run around there. The top got so far around and there was no curb to the wall. On the bottom you could slow down and hit it. It was good for us, especially there. It made for a fun night.”

Sides maneuvered from 13th to a seventh-place result, which was his 34th top 10 of the season.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Berlin Raceway, where Sides qualified 20th quickest before advancing from seventh to sixth place in a heat race.

“Where you needed to qualify, it got so close to the edge,” he said. “When I tried it it didn’t work out real well for me. I ran down to the bottom and ended up 20th quick. Then we made some changes for the heat and got it a little better. For the feature we made more changes and got the car pretty good.”
Sides rallied from his 19th starting position into the top 10 before a late-race restart cost him several positions.

“We weren’t very good on restarts,” he said. “We got off in the middle on the last restart. It was dusty to the flag stand so you couldn’t see. We were three or four wide so I checked up going into turn one and let them go. Then I got back by two more at the end.”

Sides earned a 12th-place result, which tied him for the most cars passed in the feature.

He is scheduled to return to action this Thursday through Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., for the 53rd annual National Open with the World of Outlaws.
