SALDANA LOOKING FOR VICTORY NUMBER 5 AT THUNDERBOWL RACEWAY

TULARE, Calif. (March 11, 2014) – The World of Outlaws Spring Break continues West, making its next stop in The Golden State for a March 14-15 double header in Tulare.

Joey Saldana, driver of the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body Shop 71M Sprint Car, has more victories at Merle Stone Chevrolet Thunderbowl Raceway than any other Outlaws competitor.

Having scored wins in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011, Saldana can’t put his finger on the exact reason he has raced so well there, he just really likes the track and something about it agrees with his driving style.

With the Motter team’s freshman season in the rearview mirror, they have come out strong this year, earning quick time in two of the first six races and scoring top 10 finishes in four of the six races.

Another top 10 finish looked promising; however, Saldana was injured during the dash in Las Vegas when race track debris crashed through the right arm guard causing a hematoma.   He was taken to a local hospital for medical attention all the while struggling with a desire to stay at the track and race.  He was back in the cockpit two nights later in Tucson and is looking forward to picking up the momentum at the Tulare County Fairgrounds track.

“Last year we were trying to gel as a team and we were trying different components on the race car throughout the season,” explained the Brownsburg Bullet.  “Now we are comfortable with our parts and pieces.  We have already proven we have a quick car, and with our win in the All Star race in Barberville, Fla. in February, we have shown we are a force to be reckoned with.

“I can’t wait to get ‘back to the office’ each week.  Now we start to race weekly which I really enjoy.

“I am anxious to see if we can add another victory to our tally here at Tulare.”
