Joey Saldana is batting .500 this season at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California. He won in the World of Outlaws first visit of the season to the track back in February and earned his second win in four tries on Friday, during the opening night of the 14th annual Trophy Cup for 360-sprint cars.

Saldana started 10th and worked his way to the front on the high-banked 1/3-mile with a very strong field of cars in attendance, including four fellow World of Outlaws drivers. The native of Brownsburg, Indiana drove the Harold Main owned H.A.M. Construction No. 35.

Jason Meyers, who won five times with the World of Outlaws this season finished third on Friday night, after starting 12th. Meyers won the 360-sprint car portion of the Cotton Classic last weekend at Kings Speedway in Hanford, California. Last season, Meyers came within one point of winning the Trophy Cup.

Jason Solwold, who was ninth in championship points with the World of Outlaws this season, finished ninth on the opening night of the Trophy Cup, which benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The organization will be presented a check on the front straightaway on Saturday night.

Other World of Outlaws drivers that competed on the opening night of the Trophy Cup included Paul McMahan and Randy Hannagan.

The Trophy Cup wraps up on Saturday night, with the overall winner to be determined by combined points earned from both nights of racing. The line-up for Saturday night’s 40-lap A-Feature will be completely inverted from the event points earned on Friday night. The overall winner of the event will receive $15,000.

The 30th Anniversary season for the World of Outlaws begins on February 8, 2008 with the 37th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.
