Near Top Five for Dollansky in Oil City Cup Finale

Fans,
Fans,
Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team wrapped up the 2012 edition of racing in Canada on Saturday as they returned to Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta following their seventh victory of the season the previous night.

Set to go for the finale of the Oil City Cup, Dollansky began the race program by posting the 3rd fastest lap in qualifying among the 24 drivers signed in.  A great heat race saw ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ power from outside row two to the victory in the 10-lap race.  Luck of the draw for the dash inversion then put the World of Outlaws point leader outside the front row for the dash where he finished 2nd.

In the 35-lap A-Main the MobileStar Maxim lined up alongside Sam Hafertepe Jr. when the green flag waved and battled with the #26 before the #7 claimed the top spot.  As Dollansky worked through heavy lapped traffic, Hafertepe Jr. closed on lap 6 and raced past the Aggressive Hydraulics backed sprinter to take the lead down the backstretch.  Following the first caution on lap 9, Dollansky lost a couple of positions and ran sixth before the next yellow four circuits later.  When action continued the Elk River, Minnesota native ran seventh before the final caution on lap 31 and worked past one car in the remaining four laps to cross the checkered flag in 6th.

Of the six Canada events this year the Big Game Treestands #7 team recorded a series best average finish (3.3) and top-fives (5) to go along with finishing in the top-ten in all six races.

World of Outlaws action continues on Wednesday at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington.
