McMahan Adds Top-10’s at Tulare

Fans,
Fans,

TELFORD, PA. – March 16, 2015 – If there was one thing that was consistent between both nights of World of Outlaws action at Thunderbowl Raceway, it was that the #51 car was moving forward.

“Tulare was good for us,” said McMahan, driver of the Bairs Tree Service, Nyce Crete & Landis Block & Concrete and All Star Performance sponsored machine. “We didn’t get caught up in any accidents and our car was extremely fast. You can’t ask for much more than that other than a win or two.”

Momentum was behind the CJB team as it rolled into Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif. McMahan came into the event with an average finish of 6.8 through 15 events. The double header at one of California’s most exciting tracks kicked off the Outlaws first swing through the Golden State.

“Tulare is unqiue,” commented the California native. “It’s a very racy place. It’s almost like Darlington (Raceway) on dirt. The first night out, we go buried a bit in qualifying because the track got faster as the night went on. We then were able to race our way up to the front during the feature and missed a few of the accidents that occurred. To come from 18th to 6th is huge and would win us the ‘Hard Charger’ on most nights.”

Night two had a similar theme as the #51 gained positions during the feature.

“We didn’t start nearly as deep in the field on the second night,” said McMahan. “We made our way up into the top-5 pretty easily. During an open red, I had Barry (Jackson) tighten up the car a bit. We tightened it up a bit too much and we feel back to seventh on the start. Luckily we made our way back up to 5th.

McMahan’s strong weekend boosted the CJB team into fourth in the series standings. The team will continue to look for their first Outlaws win on the season as the series heads to the Stockton (Calif.) Dirt Track.

“Stockton is a relatively new track so we don’t have as deep of a notebook there,” explained McMahan. “It’s a nice place and the sponsors are usually represented very well there. Looking forward to being out there for a two day show and continuing the west coast swing.”
