Great Start, Rough Ending on Night Two for Dollansky

Fans,
Fans,

Only two nights of racing remained on the 2012 schedule for the Big Game Treestands #7 team as they returned to The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the second night of the PEAK Motor Oil World Finals Presented by NAPA Auto Parts.  With qualifying already complete from the previous night, Friday’s action got underway with brief hotlap sessions before five heat races.

Starting from outside row two of heat five, finishing in the top two was imperative for Dollansky as it would earn a spot in the dash.  On the second attempt at the green flag for the heat ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ raced low into turn 1 to race side-by-side for second before taking the spot in turn 3 and then setting sail for the leader.  The MobileStar Maxim would close in on leader Jason Johnson by the completion of the 8-lap race but finish 2nd to still transfer to the dash.

Luck of the draw for the dash by way of a four pill meant the Aggressive Hydraulics #7 would start on the pole.  In the 6-lap event Dollansky powered into the lead and went on to take the victory.

Starting on the pole for the seventh time this season, Dollansky bolted out to the early lead before a caution on lap 4.  Lining up on the inside for the double-file restart, the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products backed sprinter slipped a couple of spots on the restart and then to fifth a few circuits later.  As the main event continued, Dollansky began to tighten the gap as the top-five raced nose-to-tail before a caution on lap 24.  With only six laps remaining, the #7 struggled to hold position in the final laps and fell back to 12th when the checkered flag waved.

The World Finals concludes tonight at The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the Big Game Treestands #7 team with coverage live on SPEED beginning at 7 PM central.
