CURTAIN CALL: World Finals Ends Season for CJB Motorsports

Fans,
Fans,

TELFORD, PA. – November 12, 2014 – After ninety plus races, thousands of miles and ten months, the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series came to a close with the Bad Boy Buggies World of Outlaws World Finals at the Dirt Track at Charlotte. For Paul McMahan and CJB Motorsports, it was one final chance to add to their win tally.

“We really went to Charlotte with the mentality that we were going to grab a win or two,” said Paul McMahan, driver of the Bairs Tree Service/Nyce Crete & Landis Block & Concrete/All Star Performance sponsored machine. “That was our goal and we felt like we had an excellent shot at it based on our track record there. A few freak things happened and we didn’t quite get the job done.”

The unique event, which features all three of the major forms of dirt track racing in the country (World of Outlaws STP Sprint Cars, World of Outlaws Late Models and Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds) began with qualifying night on Thursday, November 6th.

“Qualifying night was very good for us,” said McMahan. “We drew a good pill number for both events and laid down excellent laps. To time in in the top-5 against the level of competition that was at Charlotte is quite an accomplishment.”

The California native was well on his way to another strong finish at the Dirt Track at Charlotte the following night when mechanical issues brought the #51 machine to a halt on the front stretch.

“We had a really good car and I believe we were heading for a podium finish,” said McMahan. “Under caution though, we had a generator in the mag went out and the car just died. That derailed us but I was happy that it happened under yellow and not green.”

Back for the following night to close out the 2014 season, McMahan and the entire CJB crew was determined to end on a high note.

“On night number two, we put on a harder tire for the feature than most of the other cars,” McMahan explained. “I think that hurt us a bit but we were trying. You never really know how things will shake out but nothing can take away from how much this team accomplished in 2014. I am very proud and grateful to drive the CJB machine for Chad and Jenn Clemens. Barry and the crew work hard every night. It wasn’t the finale we wanted but the good news is that we will be back to chase the World of Outlaws title once again in 2015. So, all in all, World Finals wasn’t what we hoped for but we are excited for a new season.”
